Backtrack Blog #2

Once again, for people that read my blog, I am sorry. I have been a horrible blogger. I have no excuses other than I have not been in a blogging mood. I am going to try to do better... I promise. So here is what is going on around here.

One of our friends got married. He married a girl from Bhutan, so the wedding was there. They had a reception here this month. We are very happy for both of them. Indian weddings are always very fun, cultural experiences. Here are some pics.

One day some of the girls from our class came over to our flat. We were pretty nervous about it because our apartment is really big. They live in a one room house with 7 people. They have one bed with no mattress and a few plastic chairs. My bedroom is larger than their whole house, and I have two beds in my room, with mattresses. We were so self-conscious and felt really spoiled. It went really well though, and we had alot of fun. At first we were sitting in our living room on the couch and chairs. We could tell they were a little uncomfortable because they are not used to furniture. Then Alicia got them all to just sit on her bed. Then they relaxed because that is where we sit when we are at their house. When we started to leave they asked to use the toilet. That is when things became funny. They all started giggling because they had never used a western toilet before. They were arguing over who would use it first. It was really funny. Then we went to the mall. It was the first time in a mall for two for the girls. They did really well though, even on the escalators. That is quite an accomplishment. For people who have never seen an escalator, they can be strange and scary.

I think this was the first time in a coffe shop for some of them too. Can you tell by their expressions? :)

Backtrack Blog

I apologize for not blogging for awhile. I don't really have an excuse, but here is a blog to catch up.

In January a new teammate joined us. Laura is doing well and literally plunged right into the culure. Sheh lives with us for just one day week right now, but we've enjoyed getting to know her.

Last Saturday I had Lasik surgery. Yes, in India. I am doing well and now have 20/20 vision with no glasses. Its pretty amazing to be able to see.

Alicia and I just got back from seeing our friends Emily and Julie in the mountains. Its alwasy fun to get together with friends and just hang out.

I really like this picture. Does anything about it seem a little odd to you? Cafe Amigos' German Bakery?....

Upcoming events: My family is coming in less than 2 months! Woohoo! I can't wait!

Our old roomie Kim is also coming for a visit in 2 months! Double Woohoo!
