Theater

I love theater! Its been a simple joy for many years now. However, during the past few years, theater has not been a part of my life. :( This past week though I attended a play. We went with the Fu's to see a play about Delhi based on a book entitled "City of Djinns." The play got a little long, but they did a great job. It was outside at some type of Indian style structure, which added to the fun of it. I was impressed. Most of all, I just loved the fact that I was at a play. I love them. Here are a few pics of the set and of us:

Random Fact: I have a list of goals for my life or just random things that I want to do in my lifetime. One of those is to be in a musical.
California Came to Town

There is one blog that I never got to write a few weeks ago. During the same time as my family, we had a team of 14 from California join us for 2 weeks. They joined Kim, our old roomie who arrived early. They were all great and were a blessing to be around. They were out and about in the city most days, but at night, all or at least half of them would come and hang out at our house. I love have tons of people in our home. There is just something fun about it. I hope to always be the type of person that has tons of people over all the time. Here is a picture of what our house looked like more nights.

To the Californians: Thanks for everything!

My Family Came to Town

On March 31, after over 40 hours of traveling and a horrible experience with Continental Airlines, my parnets and sister arrived in India! We spent 10 amazing days together! We stayed pretty busy the whole time, but it was just great! They were such a blessing and encouragement to me as they interacted with all the important people in my life here. I don't know if it is even possible to tell about all they did and saw. I'm not going to even attempt, but she should ask them about their trip. I am just going to share a little bit through pictures.

They arrived bearing gifts of course. :) My favorites were the homemade ones. My mom baked me monkey bread and my Mamaw made my favorite cupcakes.
They finally arrived at my apartment at 2 pm on their first day. They were pretty tired so they napped, and we took it easy. That night they had their first Indian meal prepared by Anita. I don't think they ever quite acquired a taste for Indian food. It was okay though, because they seemed perfectly happy living off Pizza Hut. One morning he had tea and fried snacks with Mona. They loved the snacks so Mona taught us how to make them. They also got to meet the infamous Ericka. The same day we took cycle rickshaw rides through the old city.
They thought this was interesting. These are power lines. Until they pointed them out, I just considered them to be normal. lol. This is us at India Gate - The infamous stand in the street picture.Don't we all look so Indian. One afternoon we visited our landlords' the Guptas. Then we went to English class. My Dad shared a story with them. This is all of us crammed in an auto rickshaw.Wednesday morning we went to Rajeev Camp, a slum school. They made a picture frame with the kids and Lori took school pictures for them.

This is Kim who lived with us last year. She is visiting us right now and brought a team along with her! Kim and the team are all alot of fun. This is her and Deepak, her favorite kid here.
Thursday we rode the train to see the Taj Mahal. You should ask my family about the train ride. lol.
These people came up to Daddy and Momma and asked if they could take their picture with them. This is the camel cart we rode to the Taj Mahal. This is at the Pizza Hut in the same city as the Taj Mahal. The unique thing about this Pizza Hut is that the waiters dance. They line up and do choreographed dances for the visitors. On Good Friday we had an Easter program at our house for all of our neighbors. And of course, no Indian event is complete without Bollywood dancing. On Saturday, Lori had a day of beauty for the girls and their families that attend our English class. All the women loved getting all made up.

Then the girls drew henna on Lori's feet and Momma's hand. Henna is very traditional Indian.

This sign says, "We love Bella." Bella is the name of Lori's Salon.
To finish up our time together we escaped out of the city and went to a Fort Palace for a few days.

It was a great time with them. There are alot of stories to tell and alot more pictures. I am so thankful for their time here!
